Rules and Regulations Jackson Township Ordinance #31-95
The Township strongly encourages all Jackson residents to
bring all acceptable recyclable and residential bulky waste materials to the Municipal
Transfer Station and Bulky Waste Compactor.
This
facility provides residents with a valuable service that is not available in many area
communities. Since it is supported with your tax dollars, please observe the following
rules and regulations to help us operate it efficiently and economically.
Any vehicle entering this facility must be registered in New Jersey. Vehicles without New Jersey license plate will not be permitted to enter.

GUIDELINES FOR OUR TRANSFER STATION DO NOT PERMIT:
COMMERCIAL VEHICLES
VEHICLES EXCEEDING 8000LB
HAZARDOUS MATERIALS OR TOXIC MATERIALS
- All users of this facility must submit
to the attendant proof of Jackson residency and/or residential
property ownership. Acceptable forms of proof include Driver's
License, Voter Registration Card, Photo Identification Card or in
the case of nonresident homeowners, a current tax bill in combination
with one of the above.
- For your protection, all vehicles
entering and leaving the premises are videotaped, and all vehicle
license plates are recorded by the attendant.
- In any instance where a question arises
as to residency, the user may be required to execute an affidavit
attesting to same and acknowledging the penalties for fraudulent
misrepresentation.
Acceptable Waste Materials
- Acceptable residential bulky waste items include appliances,
furniture, bedding, rugs, pool covers, any other similar types of
bulky non-hazardous materials that are generated by a homeowner maintaining a residential
property in Jackson Township.
- No waste materials of any kind whatsoever that are generated
by commercial activities or business operations of any sort, shall be permitted to be
disposed of. Such commercial activities include, but are not limited to, retail stores,
professional offices, real estate agencies, landlords, contractors, and agricultural
enterprises.
- The Township reserves the right to reject
any and all waste materials that may be deemed by the Township to
be potentially detrimental to the safe and efficient operation of
the facility.
- No hazardous or toxic materials of any kind will be
accepted.
Ownership of Recyclable &
Waste Materials
All recyclable and/or waste materials
deposited at the facility become the immediate property of the Township
and shall be disposed of in a manner prescribed by law. No scavenging
will be permitted, and violators will be prosecuted for theft.
Size of Vehicles Limited
- No waste materials of any kind whatsoever
that are generated by commercial activities or business operations
of any sort, shall be permitted to be disposed of. Such commercial
activities include, but are not limited to, retail stores, professional
offices, real estate agencies, landlords, contractors, and agricultural
enterprises.
- No commercial plated vehicles will
be alowed to enter under any circumstances
- No vehicles in excess of 8,000 pounds
G.V.W. shall be permitted to use the facility. This generally excludes
any vehicle larger than passenger cars, vans and pick-up trucks.
Tires
- All residents and homeowners wishing
to dispose of passenger car tire casings must transport same to
the Municipal Transfer Station on Don Connor Blvd. No tires will
be picked up curbside by Township personnel as part of Jackson Township's
Bulky Waste Pickup Program.
- No truck, tractor, heavy equipment
tires or racing slicks will be accepted for disposal. All acceptable
tires must first be dismounted from the wheel prior to disposal.
- All Jackson residents and homeowners
shall be permitted to dispose of up to eight (8) light passenger
vehicle tire casings per calendar year. All tires disposed of at
the transfer will be counted and recorded against the lot and block
number of the homeowner or resident's property
Construction Demolition Debris
- Construction/demolition debris consists
of any and all non-hazardous building materials including, but not
limited to, plywood, lumber, sheetrock, paneling, insulation material,
plumbing fixtures, cabinetry, windows, doors, pallets, roofing and
siding materials generated by the construction, demolition, alteration
or repair of any residential structure or accessory structure related
to residential use.
- All construction/demolition debris
brought to the facility must be no larger than 4 ft. X 4 ft.
- Construction/demolition debris accepted
at the facility shall be limited to only those waste materials generated
by work performed by the resident or homeowner himself in accordance
with all building codes and regulations. No waste materials will
be accepted from any residential property where work is performed
by a contractor or tradesman.
- All residents and homeowners wishing
to dispose of construction/demolition debris must first obtain a
voucher authorizing same from the Department of Public Works between
the hours of 8:30 A.M. and 4:30 P.M. Monday through Friday, excluding
holidays. Each resident or homeowner shall be entitled to two (2)
such vouchers per year, each of which shall be valid until December
31 in the year they were issued. One voucher per load must
be surrendered to the compactor attendant, regardless of the size
of load being disposed.
Violations and Penalties
- Any person, firm or corporation found
in violation of these rules and regulations shall be subject to
a fine of not more than one thousand dollars ($1000.00) or imprisonment
of up to thirty (30) days for each offense.
Illegal Dumpers are Prosecuted!
- Persons who illegally dump waste materials
in vacant lots, wooded areas and other unauthorized locations are
subject to prosecution under N.J.S.A. 13:1E-93, which provides for
a fine of up to $10,000; community service of up to 90 days; forfeiture
of driver's license for not less than six (6) months; and forfeiture
of vehicle(s) used.

The Transfer Station is Located on Don Connor Blvd, across the street from the Senior Center.
