Traps should be hung in early spring. The gypsy moths are active from late April through August. You should choose a tree where air current can circulate the attractant freely. Hang the trap 4-5 feet off the ground in a tree or on a suitable stand. The south side of the tree is best.
You should check you trap at least two times a week.
To empty your trap:
a) Immerse the trap completely in soapy water
for one or two minutes to kill any remaining moths
b) Twist off ring
c)
Pull out funnel, and
d) Dump the moths in regular trash collection. Rinse out
or replace bag and re-hang.
Recommended number of traps:
Two traps per ten trees
If trap catch declines and it is not the end of the season, replace the lure. The lure is designed to last 6-8 weeks.
The Gypsy Moth Trap comes with one lure and one bag.
The replacement lure
comes with one lure.

Tree Tanglefoot Pest Barrier
|
Tangle Guard
Tree Banding Material, when used with Tree Tanglefoot Pest Barrier, provides the perfect
solution to protecting your valuable trees and reducing future populations of
these pests.
Banding your
trees is a two-step process. First, fasten Tangle Guard Tree Banding
Material (or some other waterproof material) around the tree trunk. This
material provides a non-absorbent application for Tree Tanglefoot Pest Barrier.
It also facilitates easy removal of Pest Barrier after the insect season. Once
the band is in place, the Tree Tanglefoot Pest Barrier can be applied. As the
insects climb up over the sticky bands, they become trapped without
escape.
Best of all, the
action is strictly mechanical --no pesticides or harmful chemicals are
involved.
