The Commission serves disabled/handicapped Jackson residents by providing a variety of recreational, educational and social activities throughout the calendar year.
Mission Statement
The Commission for the Disabled/Handicapped, under the auspices of Jackson Township, advocates their advancement and independence through events, trips and recreational programs.
The Commission provides help and information to residents in finding the proper agency responsible in resolving specific problems.
Started in 1971, the Commission for the Disabled/Handicapped (formerly the Mayor’s Commission for the Disabled) was the first organization of its kind in Ocean County to offer such a wide variety of programs for people with disabilities.
Equipment Lending Service
The Commission lends and accepts medical equipment that is new or in good condition.
